What to Expect
We want you to visit us, and we want you to feel comfortable. So let us tell you what you can expect when you honor us with a visit.
We want to be a Bible-centered church. And we try to be. Yet we know that our conclusions aren’t flawless, and that our practices are sometimes colored by habit, preference, tradition, or convenience.
The Setting
Picture of Sanctuary
This is our main worship facility… we call it the sanctuary. There are no reserved seats, so feel free to sit anywhere you choose.
Singing
We do project all of our song lyrics on the projector but there are also hymnbooks located in the racks on the back of the pew in front of you. Use them if you want… it’s up to you.
Prayers
There will be several prayers during the service. Some of those will be for specific praises and concerns. We invite people to share those concerns and then we spend time remembering them.
Preaching
We believe in the priesthood of all believers, but normally there will be a sermon presented by our Pastor, Dave. Occasionally at the close of the sermon, the preacher will “extend and invitation”. This is simply an expedient time to invite those who are moved to do so to make a commitment to follow Jesus. Don’t feel ill-at-ease during this invitation. You will not be singled out in any way.
The Lord’s Supper
Picture of Communion
If you visit on the first Sunday of the month, the Lord’s Supper will be included in the worship service. As American Baptists, we believe that all individuals that have made the decision to follow Jesus may join us in this remembrance celebration. The elements are passed and we wait to take them as a congregation. You are not obligated to participate and we won’t think less of you if you choose to simply observe.
Offerings

Also if you visit on a Sunday morning containers will be passed to collect the weekly financial offering. As our guest, you are not expected to make a donation unless you so choose. Feel perfectly comfortable in just passing the collection plate down the row.
What will be expected of you?
Nothing at all! You are welcome to participate. But don’t feel obligated to do so. Just observe, if that is your choice.
The People
Picture of Congregation
What kind of people can you expect to find? Pretty much the entire spectrum, as in any group. We are a diverse group, coming from varied backgrounds, and at different stages of knowledge and spiritual growth.
We don’t know everything. We don’t do everything right. We don’t always treat each other as we should. We haven’t arrived – we’re just on the journey.
We were brought together by our recognition that we are all
sinners in need of the cleansing blood of Jesus. That’s the reason we can worship together,
stick together and with God’s help, accomplish some things that make a
difference.
